This is brilliant.
Comedian Will Stephen‘s TEDx Talk at TEDxNewYork is a satirical take on TED presentations themselves in particular, but also presentations in general. Comedy, especially parody and satire, can often serve as a cheat sheet to understand how something works.
I often tell people thinking of a career in media or public relations that they could do worse by watching Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. By lampooning the daily news and its conventions and techniques, such satire highlights how the medium works. The same dynamic is at work with Stephen’s TEDx Talk. Set aside six minutes to watch this clip and you’ll have a much better take on how many presentations are constructed.
